Lokrum has two restaurants and a cocktail bar, and all of them serve by day. Eden Garden is the main kitchen, the Lake Cocktail Bar pours drinks, and Lacroma is the quieter a-la-carte alternative. This guide sets out what each one serves, what the dishes cost, and how to fit a meal between boats.

The island sits just off Dubrovnik, and the eating decision is simple: a full lunch at Eden Garden, a drink and light bite at the Lake bar, or a table at Lacroma. Prices are quoted in euros and are the kind of island mark-up you would expect. Check the hours before you commit, because the restaurants close well before the last ferry.

What eating on Lokrum looks like

The island runs on daytime hours. Eden Garden, the main restaurant, opens from 12:00 to 19:00, and the Lake Cocktail Bar runs from 10:00 to 18:00, according to the restaurant's own site. Lacroma keeps a separate a-la-carte room with its own hours. That means lunch, not dinner, is the meal to plan around.

Everything is on one small island, so you can move between the three without a long walk. Eden Garden is the full-service kitchen with a proper menu of main dishes and desserts. The Lake bar is the drinks-led stop with a lighter offer. Lacroma is the a-la-carte room for a quieter sit-down lunch.

Eden Garden Restaurant

Eden Garden is the main kitchen on Lokrum, set among trees and the island's peacocks. It is the place for a full lunch rather than a snack: main dishes, desserts and a wine list. The setting is the draw as much as the food, with tables in a green, open-air space.

The menu runs from duck confit with hazelnut puree and Brussels sprouts to sea bream fillet baked in parchment paper with butter-sauteed vegetables and young potatoes. There is also gregada, a Hvar fish stew for two, made with white fish fillet, scampi, clams, prawn tails, root vegetables and potatoes. Main dishes sit around €28–29, and the gregada for two is €56. Desserts are €8 each: chocolate cake, cheesecake and apple pie. Drinks include Aperol Spritz at €13, Prosecco at €7 for 0.1 litres or €34.50 for a 0.75-litre bottle, and a glass of Mala Nevina from St Hills at €8. The full menu is on the restaurant's site.

The dishes worth ordering at Eden Garden

The gregada is the dish to order if you are sharing. It is a Hvar-style fish stew for two, built on white fish fillet, scampi, clams, prawn tails, root vegetables and potatoes. At €56 for two, it works out reasonably per person for a seafood lunch on an island. For a lighter main, the sea bream fillet baked in parchment paper comes with butter-sauteed vegetables, young potatoes, Kalamata olives and sun-dried tomatoes at €28. The duck confit with hazelnut puree, Brussels sprouts and thyme sauce is €29 and suits anyone who wants a break from fish. All three are substantial plates rather than small bites.

Lake Cocktail Bar

The Lake Cocktail Bar is the drinks stop, open from 10:00 to 18:00. It is the place for an Aperol Spritz at €13 or a glass of Prosecco at €7 before or after lunch. There is also Bavaria non-alcoholic beer at €6.20 for 0.25 litres if you want to keep it light.

Treat the Lake bar as the light option: a drink rather than a full meal. It suits a couple who want to sit with a drink, or a family that needs a cold drink between boat times. If you want a proper lunch, head to Eden Garden instead.

Lacroma Restaurant

Lacroma is the a-la-carte alternative on the island, with its own kitchen and menu. It is open from 9:00 to 20:00 and closed during winter, according to its site. That makes it the earliest opener of the three and the one to consider if you arrive on an early ferry.

Compared with Eden Garden, Lacroma suits a quieter, more structured lunch. It is a good pick for couples. Check the a-la-carte menu and wine list on its site before you go, and confirm a table ahead if you are visiting in high season.

Prices at the island restaurants

Before drinks, a lunch for two at Eden Garden works if you share a main and a dessert each. For the gregada for two, add two desserts. Add a glass of wine. Drinks at the Lake bar are the cheaper way to spend an hour: a Prosecco or a non-alcoholic beer. Prices at Lacroma are on its own menu, which you should check before you go. Croatia has used the euro.

Lunch timing around the ferry

Eden Garden closes at 19:00 and the Lake bar at 18:00, so the last sitting is well before the last ferry. Lacroma runs to 20:00. Plan lunch for midday to early afternoon, and leave time to walk back to the boat. Do not assume you can eat a late dinner on the island.

If you arrive on a late-morning ferry, Lacroma opens at 9:00 and is the first option. Eden Garden opens at 12:00, so a midday lunch there fits a full day on the island. The Lake bar opens at 10:00 for an early drink.

Booking and seating

In high season, plan to reserve your table at Eden Garden or Lacroma rather than walking in, since the island fills with day-trippers. Confirm a set time a day or two ahead if you want one.

The Lake bar is the easiest walk-in for a drink. For a full lunch, a confirmed table saves you from a wasted boat trip. If you are flexible, eat early or late to avoid the peak.

Which one to pick

Families with children should head to Eden Garden for a full lunch and the space to spread out. Couples wanting a quieter meal should book Lacroma. Anyone who just wants a drink and a view should stop at the Lake bar. For a broader look at island eating, see the Dalmatian islands restaurants guide.

If you are island-hopping, the restaurants in Korčula are a useful comparison for a longer sit-down meal. Closer to Dubrovnik, the Lopud restaurant options make an easy alternative day trip. Both give a sense of what to expect from Dalmatian island kitchens.

Is a Lokrum lunch worth the ferry?

Yes, if you want a daytime meal with a view and do not mind island prices. Eden Garden is the main event, the Lake bar is the drink stop, and Lacroma is the quiet a-la-carte room. Book ahead in high season and eat before the restaurants close.

If you would rather eat in Dubrovnik, the Dalmatian islands restaurants guide covers the wider coast. For a longer island stay, the restaurants in Korčula are a good next stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it worth going to Lokrum?

If you want a daytime meal on a small island with a full restaurant and a cocktail bar, yes. Eden Garden, the Lake bar and Lacroma all serve by day, so plan lunch rather than dinner. The island is close to Dubrovnik and makes an easy half-day.

How much does it cost to enter Lokrum island?

Entry and ferry prices are set separately from the restaurants. Check the official Lokrum or Dubrovnik tourist board site before you travel. The restaurant prices in this guide do not include entry or transport.

Where do locals eat in Dubrovnik?

That is a broader question than this island guide. Lokrum is a day-trip destination, and its restaurants are aimed at visitors. For a local meal, look at konobas in Dubrovnik's neighbourhoods rather than the island.

Is there a Michelin star restaurant in Croatia?

Croatia has Michelin-starred restaurants, but none of the Lokrum venues in this guide is presented as Michelin-starred. Check the Michelin Guide directly for current listings.
